226 - Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Waki' informed us, from al-A'mash, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, from 'Urwah, from 'Aishah, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) kissed [his wife] and did not perform wudu'.
• I heard Ishaq ibn Ibrahim say—regarding this report—: "It is not authentic, because we believe that Habib ibn Abi Thabit did not hear [this] from 'Urwah; rather, it merely reached him from him. It is narrated from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, something contrary to this, and this is the strongest indication in this regard."
227 - 'Imran ibn Yazid narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, he said: Al-Awza'i was asked about a man praying, and a young child comes to him while he is praying, so he kisses him? He did not see any harm in it and said: "He proceeds in his prayer." It was said: What if his wife comes to him and kisses him? He said: "If she kisses his cheek, there is no harm upon him; he proceeds in his prayer. But if she kisses his mouth, he should withdraw and perform wudu', then resume [the prayer] from where he left off before she kissed him."
Chapter: Regarding the one who sleeps while sitting
• I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal, and I said: [What about] the man who sleeps while sitting? He said: "If it is for a short while [it is fine]." Then he was asked—after that—about the man who sleeps while sitting? He said: "If it is for a long while, it does not please me." It was said: What if he is leaning against a wall? He disliked it and held the view that wudu' is required.
