8 - ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd narrated to us: Zuhayr b. Muʿāwiya narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿĀṣim b. Ḍamra, from ʿAlī, May God be pleased with him, who said: "Those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups, until when they reach the first of its gates, they will find by it a tree from beneath whose trunk two springs flow. They will head to one of them as if they were commanded to do so, and they will drink from it, and it will remove whatever filth, harm, or ailment is in their bellies. Then they will head to the other and purify themselves, and the radiance of bliss will flow over them, so their skin will not change, nor will it ever change thereafter, and their hair will not become disheveled, as if they were anointed with oil. Then they will reach the keepers of Paradise, who will say: 'Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally.' Then the youths will meet them—or be released to them—circling around them just as the children of the people of the world circle around a close friend arriving from an absence. They will say to him: 'Rejoice in what God has prepared for you of such-and-such honor.' Then a boy from among those youths will go to some of his wives from the wide-eyed maidens and say: 'So-and-so has come,' using the name by which he was called in the world. She will say: 'Did you see him?' He will say: 'I saw him, and he is right behind me.' Joy will make one of them so light that she will stand at the threshold of her door. When he reaches his dwelling, he will look at what the foundation of its building is, and behold, it is boulders of pearl, and above it is a palace of green, yellow, red, and every color. Then he will raise his head and look at its roof, and behold, it is like lightning; were it not that God, Mighty and Majestic, had decreed for him that his sight would not be taken away, it would have been taken away. Then he will lower his head and look at his wives, and cups set in place, and cushions lined up, and carpets spread around. He will look at that blessing, then recline and say: '{Praise be to God, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if God had not guided us},' the verse. Then it will be called out: 'You shall live and never die, you shall stay and never depart, and you shall be healthy'—I think he said—'and never fall ill.' Abū Isḥāq said: Like this, or similar to it."
