336 - Azhar b. Marwān narrated to me: ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿArāda al-Shaybānī narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Yazīd, from his father, from Ṣafī al-Yamānī, who said: I asked ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Marwān about the delegation of the people of Paradise. He said: "They come as a delegation to God, Mighty and Majestic, every Thursday. Beds are placed for them; every person among them knows his bed better than you know this bed of yours that you are on." He said: And Ṣafī swore to that. "When they sit on it and the people take their seats, He, Blessed and Exalted, says: 'My servants, My creation, My neighbors, and My delegation, feed them.' He said: Then they are brought white birds like Bactrian camels, and they eat from them whatever they wish. Then He says: 'My servants, My creation, My neighbors, and My delegation have eaten, give them to drink.' Then they are brought vessels of various colors, sealed, and they are given to drink from them. Then He says: 'My servants, My creation, My neighbors, and My delegation have eaten and drunk, give them fruit.' Then the fruits of hanging trees come, and they eat from them whatever they wish.

"Then He says: 'My servants, My creation, My neighbors, and My delegation have eaten, drunk, and had fruit, clothe them.' Then the fruits of trees come—yellow, green, red, and every color—and they grow nothing but garments." And Ṣafī swore that they grew nothing else. "Then garments and shirts are spread over them. Then He says: 'My servants, My creation, My neighbors, and My delegation have eaten, drunk, had fruit, and been clothed, [perfume them.' Then musk scatters upon them like drizzling rain. Then He says: 'My servants, My neighbors, My creation, and My delegation have eaten, drunk, had fruit, been clothed,] and been perfumed. I shall surely reveal Myself to them so that they may look at Me.' When He, Mighty and Majestic, reveals Himself to them and they look at Him, their faces become radiant. Then it is said to them: 'Return to your homes.' Their wives will say to them: 'You left us in one form and returned in another.' They will say: 'That is because God, Mighty and Majestic, revealed Himself to us, and we looked at Him, so our faces became radiant.'"
