339 - Muḥammad b. ʿUbayd Allāh b. Mūsā al-Qurashī narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Ṣāliḥ narrated to us: Abū Shihāb al-Khayyāṭ narrated to us, from Khālid b. Dīnār, from Ḥammād b. Jaʿfar, from ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, say: "Shall I not inform you of the lowest rank in Paradise?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of God." He said: "A man will enter through the gate of Paradise, and his servants will meet him, saying: 'Welcome to our master, it is time for you to visit us.' Carpets will be unrolled for him for forty years. Then he will look to his right and to his left and see gardens, and he will say: 'Whose is this?' It will be said: 'Yours.' Until, when he reaches the end, a red ruby and a green chrysolite will be raised for him, having seventy branches, in every branch seventy rooms, and in every room seventy doors. They will say: 'Ascend and ascend,' so he will ascend until he reaches the bed of his kingdom and reclines on it. Its width is a mile by a mile, having sections within it. He will be served with seventy golden bowls, no bowl being of the same color as its sister; he will find the taste of the last of them just as he finds the taste of the first of them. Then he will be served with various drinks, and he will drink from them whatever he desires. Then he will say to the servants: 'Leave him and his wives.' So the servants will depart, and he will look, and behold, a houri with large beautiful eyes is sitting on the bed of her kingdom. She will be wearing seventy garments, no garment being of the same color as its companion. He will see the marrow of her leg from behind the flesh, blood, bone, and clothing on top of that. He will look at her and say: 'What are you?' She will say: 'Is it not time that we have a share in you?' So he will ascend to her for forty years, not turning his gaze away from her. Until, when the bliss reaches its utmost extent with them, and they think that there is no bliss better than it, the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, will reveal Himself to them. They will look at the Face of the Most Merciful, Blessed and Exalted, and He will say: 'O people of Paradise, say Tahlil to Me.' So they will respond to each other with the Tahlil of the Most Merciful. Then He will say: 'O David, stand and glorify Me just as you used to glorify Me in the world.' So David, peace be upon him, will glorify his Lord, Mighty and Majestic."
