Translation · EN

His saying: "Neither old, nor young, but middle between that." Al-Hasan said: The "farid" (old) is the aged one; the "bikr" (young) is the small one; and the "awan" (middle) is between that.

Muhammad said: It is said of the "farid" that she has "farudat" (reached an advanced age), she reaches "tarfudu" (is aging), an act of "furudan" (being aged).

قَوْله ﴿لَا فَارِضٌ وَلا بِكْرٌ عوان بَين ذَلِك﴾ قَالَ الحَسَن: الفارض: الْهَرِمَةُ، والْبِكْرُ: الصَّغِيرَة، والْعَوَانُ: بَين ذَلِك.

قَالَ مُحَمَّد: يُقَال من الفارض: فَرُضَتْ تفرض فروضاً
