"Then you are those..."
[Muhammad said]: "Those" (ha'ula') in the sense of 'the ones who' (alladhina). It has also been said: He meant, 'O you people.' "Killing your own people," meaning: some of you killing others. "And evicting a party of your own from their homes, supporting one another against them," meaning: helping one another against them, "in sin and aggression," meaning: through oppression. "And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, while their eviction was forbidden to you." Al-Hasan said: They violated the covenant; so some of them killed others, and some of them evicted others, while the ransom was obligatory.
﴿ثمَّ أَنْتُم هَؤُلَاءِ﴾
[قَالَ مُحَمَّد]: ((هَؤُلَاءِ)) بِمَعْنى الَّذين، وَقد قِيلَ: أَرَادَ يَا هَؤُلَاءِ. ﴿تقتلون أَنفسكُم﴾ أَي: يقتل بَعْضكُم بَعْضًا ﴿وَتُخْرِجُونَ فَرِيقًا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ تَظَاهَرُونَ عَلَيْهِم﴾ أَي: تعاونون عَلَيْهِم ﴿بِالإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ﴾ يَعْنِي: بالظلم. ﴿وَإِنْ يَأْتُوكُمْ أُسَارَى تُفَادُوهُمْ وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِخْرَاجُهُمْ﴾ قَالَ الحَسَن: نكثوا؛ فَقتل بَعضهم بَعْضا، وَأخرج بَعضهم بَعْضًا، وَكَانَ الْفِدَاء مَفْرُوضًا
