"And when it is said to them, 'Believe in what Allah has revealed,' they say, 'We believe in what was revealed to us,' and they disbelieve in what is beyond it" (Folio 14b). That is, what came after it; meaning the Gospel and the Quran. "And it is the truth," meaning: the Quran, "confirming what is with them," meaning: the Torah and the Gospel.
Muhammad says: 'Musaddiqan' (confirming) is in the accusative case as a circumstantial qualifier (hal), and this is a reinforcing state.
His saying, the Almighty: "Say, 'Then why did you kill the prophets of Allah before, if you were believers?'" The enemies of Allah used to say: [Indeed] their forefathers who killed the prophets of Allah from before [and it was not in what] Allah revealed to them that they should kill their prophets. So Allah belied them in their saying, "We believe in what was revealed to us," and this is the interpretation of al-Hasan.
