Volume 1 · Page 154105

Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: 'ma yawaddu alladhina kafaru min ahli al-kitabi wa-la al-mushrikina' (Those who disbelieve from the People of the Scripture and the polytheists do not wish), meaning: and [they do not wish] from the polytheists, 'an yunazzala 'alaykum min khayrin min rabbikum' (that any good should be sent down to you from your Lord), meaning: the revelation that comes to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, does not please them, out of envy toward the Messenger of God and the believers.

Muhammad said: His saying: 'min khayrin min rabbikum' (any good from your Lord), the particle 'min' (from) is used here for the purpose of emphasis and augmentation, as you say: 'ma ja'ani min ahadin' (no one came to me), and 'ma ja'ani ahadun' (no one came to me).

'wallahu yakhtassu birahmtihi man yasha'u' (And God selects with His mercy whom He wills). Al-Hasan said: meaning, Prophethood. [Verses 106-108]
