its truth and its verification. 'Alam ta'lam annallaha 'ala kulli shay'in qadir, alam ta'lam annallaha lahu mulkus-samawati wal-ard' (Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent? Do you not know that to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth?). Thus, He judges within them as He wills. 'Wa ma lakum min dunillahi min waliyyin wa la nasir' (And you have not besides Allah any protector or any helper) to prevent you if He desires a punishment for you.
Muhammad said: His saying 'alam ta'lam' (Do you not know), the expression 'alam' here is in the form of an interrogation; its meaning is to inform and affirm. The meaning of the verse is that Allah, glorified be He, owns the heavens and the earth and everyone within them; therefore, He is most knowledgeable regarding the path of rectitude in what He commands them to worship Him with, concerning abrogation and the abrogated, and other than that.
