Volume 1 · Page 163113

Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "And the Jews say: 'The Christians are not upon anything,' and the Christians say: 'The Jews are not upon anything,' while they recite the Scripture." This means: the Torah and the Gospel; that is, how did they differ and divide [concerning the Scripture], when the Scripture is one, coming from Allah, each part of it confirming the other? "Thus, those who do not know spoke like their saying."

Muhammad said: This refers to those who denied from among the nations: the nation of Noah, ‘Ad, Thamud, and others; that is, these people also said: "None shall enter Paradise except he who is of our religion," according to what was mentioned by Ibn ‘Abbas. "So Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ."

Yahya said: His judgment regarding them will be that He will declare them all to be liars and admit them into the Fire. [Verses 114-115]
