Yahya reported from Hammad, from al-Hajjaj ibn Artah, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b who said: "The Station (Maqam) was brought by an angel, who placed it under the feet of Abraham."
Yahya reported from Hammad, and al-Hajjaj narrated to me from a freedman of the Banu Hashim, from Ibn Abbas, who said: "The Hijr and the Station are two rubies from the rubies of Paradise."
Regarding the saying of the Almighty: "And We charged Abraham and Ishmael, [saying], 'Purify My House,'" Qatada said: Meaning, from the worship of idols, false speech, and acts of disobedience. "[And] for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship," the interpretation of Ibn Abbas is: Those who perform Tawaf are those who circumambulate the House, and those who are staying for worship (al-'akifun) are those who sit around it looking at it. "And those who bow and prostrate," [are] those who pray towards it. [Verse 126]
