Regarding the saying of the Almighty: "And [mention] when Abraham said, 'My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits,'" al-Kalbi said: [Meaning] that they are brought [to it] from the horizons.
Regarding the saying of the Almighty: "Whoever among them believes in Allah and the Last Day," [to the end of the] verse, al-Hasan said: When Abraham said: "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits—whoever among them believes in Allah and the Last Day," Allah the Almighty said: I will answer your prayer, and I shall make it a secure city for whoever
قَوْله تَعَالَى: ﴿وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَذَا بَلَدًا آمِنًا وارزق أَهله من الثمرات﴾ قَالَ الْكَلْبِيّ: يحمل [إِلَيْهِ] من الْآفَاق.
قَوْله تَعَالَى: ﴿مَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُم بِاللَّه وَالْيَوْم الآخر﴾ الْآيَة قَالَ الحَسَن: لما قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: ﴿رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَذَا بَلَدًا آمِنًا وَارْزُقْ أَهْلَهُ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ مَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخر﴾ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: إِنِّي مجيبك، وأجعله بَلَدا آمنا لمن
