The Exalted says: "And when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House, and Ishmael," meaning: its structure.
Muhammad said: The foundations (qawa'id) of the House are its base; its singular is: qaidah. As for the foundations (qawa'id) [of women, its singular is: qa'id, which refers to an elderly woman].
قَالَ تَعَالَى: ﴿وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْقَوَاعِد من الْبَيْت وَإِسْمَاعِيل﴾ يَعْنِي: بُنْيَانه.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: قَوَاعِد الْبَيْت: أساسه؛ وَاحِدهَا: قَاعِدَة وَأما قَوَاعِد [النِّسَاء فواحدها: قَاعد، وَهِي الْعَجُوز].
