The saying of the Exalted: "And Abraham enjoined it upon his sons," meaning: the word of monotheism; "and Jacob," meaning: and Jacob also enjoined it upon his sons after Abraham. He said: "O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you the religion," meaning: He has selected Islam for you.
قَوْله تَعَالَى: ﴿وَأوصى بهَا إِبْرَاهِيم بنيه﴾ يَعْنِي: كلمة التَّوْحِيد ﴿وَيَعْقُوب﴾ أَي: وَأوصى بِهَا أَيْضا يَعْقُوب بنيه بعد إِبْرَاهِيم قَالَ: ﴿يَا بَنِيَّ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى لَكُمُ الدّين﴾ أَي: اخْتَار لكم الْإِسْلَام
