The saying of the Exalted: "Or do you say that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants were Jews or Christians? Say: Are you more knowing or is Allah?" Al-Hasan said: He means by that their scholars, because they concealed Muhammad, upon him peace, and his religion; and it is in his religion that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants were Muslims, and they were not polytheists.
The saying of the Exalted: "And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah?" Meaning: there is no one more unjust than him. [Verse 142]
قَوْله تَعَالَى: ﴿أَمْ تَقُولُونَ إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالأَسْبَاطِ كَانُوا هُودًا أَوْ نَصَارَى قُلْ أأنتم أعلم أم الله﴾ قَالَ الحَسَن: يَعْنِي بذلك علماءهم؛ لأَنهم كتموا مُحَمَّدا عليه السلام وَدينه؛ وَفِي دينه أَن إِبْرَاهِيم وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالأَسْبَاطَ كَانُوا مُسلمين، وَلم يَكُونُوا مُشْرِكين.
قَوْله تَعَالَى: ﴿وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ كَتَمَ شَهَادَة عِنْده من الله﴾ أَي: لَا أحد أظلم مِنْهُ. [آيَة ١٤٢]
