"And for everyone," meaning: everyone of a religion, "is a direction," meaning: a qibla, "to which he turns," that is: he faces. "So race to all that is good." Qatada said: Meaning, do not be deceived regarding your qibla.
Muhammad said: And it was said the meaning is: Hasten to what I have commanded you regarding the matter of the qibla, and it is similar to the statement of Qatada. [Ayah 149-150]
﴿وَلكُل﴾ يَعْنِي: كُل ذِي مِلَّة ﴿وِجْهَةٌ﴾ يَعْنِي: قبْلَة ﴿هُوَ موليها﴾ أَي: مستقبلها ﴿فاستبقوا الْخيرَات﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَة: يَعْنِي: لَا تُفْتَنُنَّ فِي قبلتكم.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: وَقيل: الْمَعْنى: فبادروا إِلَى مَا أَمرتكُم بِهِ من أَمر الْقبْلَة؛ وَهُوَ نَحْو قَول قَتَادَة. [آيَة ١٤٩ - ١٥٠]
