"O you who have believed, fasting has been prescribed for you." The interpretation of Qatadah: It is the month of Ramadan. They were previously commanded to fast three days of every month and to pray two rak'ahs in the morning and two rak'ahs in the evening; that was the beginning of fasting and prayer.
