"And take a provision (with you), for indeed, the best provision is piety" (2:197). The explanation of Qatadah: He said: There were people from the people of Yemen who would perform Hajj without taking provisions, so Allah commanded them to take provisions and to spend in the way of Allah, then He informed them that the best provision is piety. [Verse 198]
﴿وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى﴾ تَفْسِير قَتَادَة: قَالَ: كَانَ أنَاس من أهل الْيمن يحجون وَلا يتزودون، فَأَمرهمْ اللَّه بالزاد وَالنَّفقَة فِي سَبِيل اللَّه، ثمَّ أخْبرهُم أَن خير الزَّاد التَّقْوَى. [آيَة ١٩٨]
