"They ask you what they should spend." (The verse). This verse was revealed before the verse of Zakat was revealed, and at that time it was not a specified matter. [Verse 216]
﴿يَسْأَلُونَك مَاذَا يُنْفقُونَ﴾ الْآيَة. نزلت هَذِه الْآيَة قبل أَن تنزل آيَة الزَّكَاة، وَلم يكن ذَلِكَ يَوْمئِذٍ شَيْئا موقَّتا. [آيَة ٢١٦]
