Al-Hasan said: Meaning, in the world, in the manner of what they were given. "And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs." Muhammad said: He means the signs that indicate the affirmation of his prophethood, such as healing the blind and the leper, bringing the dead to life, and other things that Allah granted him. Regarding His saying: "Those messengers," he means: the group. "And We supported him," meaning: Jesus, peace be upon him, We aided him, "with the Holy Spirit," and the Holy Spirit is Gabriel. "And if Allah had willed, those who succeeded them would not have fought each other." Qatada said: Meaning, those who came after Moses and Aaron.
الحَسَن: يَعْنِي: فِي الدُّنيا عَلَى وَجه مَا أعْطوا ﴿وَآتَيْنَا عِيسَى ابْن مَرْيَم الْبَينَات﴾ قَالَ مُحَمَّد: يُرِيد الْأَعْلَام الَّتِي تدل عَلَى إِثْبَات نبوته من إِبْرَاء الأكمه والأبرص، وإحياء الْمَوْتَى، وَغير ذَلِكَ مِمَّا أَتَاهُ اللَّه، وَقَوله: ﴿تِلْكَ الرُّسُل﴾ يُرِيد: الْجَمَاعَة ﴿وأيدناه﴾ يَعْنِي: عِيسَى عليه السلام أعنَّاه ﴿بِروح الْقُدس﴾ وروح الْقُدس جِبْرِيل ﴿وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا اقْتَتَلَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ بعدهمْ﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَة: يَعْنِي: من بعد مُوسَى وَهَارُون.
