"Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah," meaning: in the obedience of Allah. "Then they do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of their generosity] or [with] injury; for them is their reward with their Lord." The interpretation of Qatadah: He said: Allah knew that some people would boast of their giving, so He forbade that. [Verse 263-264]
﴿الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ الله﴾ يَعْنِي: فِي طَاعَة اللَّه ﴿ثُمَّ لَا يُتْبِعُونَ مَا أَنْفَقُوا مَنًّا وَلا أَذًى لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبهم﴾ تَفْسِير قَتَادَة: قَالَ: علم اللَّه أَن نَاسا يمنون فِي عطيتهم، فَنهى عَن ذَلِك. [آيَة ٢٦٣ - ٢٦٤]
