"A kind word," meaning: good. "And forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury," meaning: [injury is] when one reminds the recipient of the charity he gave to him.
﴿قَول مَعْرُوف﴾ أَي: حسن ﴿وَمَغْفِرَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ صَدَقَة يتبعهَا أَذَى﴾ أَي: يمن بِهَا عَلَى من تصدق عَلَيْهِ بهَا.
