"O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned." Al-Hasan's interpretation: This is regarding the obligatory expenditure. They used to give charity from their worst dirhams and their worst food, so Allah forbade them from that. He said: "And do not aim for the wicked," which is the inferior, "therefrom to spend," Muhammad said: "Do not aim for," meaning: Do not intend. "And you would not take it except by closing your eyes to it." Al-Kalbi's interpretation: He says: If one of you had a right against another, and he was given less than his right, he would not take it from him unless he saw that he had overlooked some of his right. Similarly, [the saying of] Allah: Do not complete the entire reward, except that He covers you with mercy regarding it. "And know that Allah is Free of need, Praiseworthy," Free of need from what
﴿يَا أَيهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْفِقُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا كسبتم﴾ تَفْسِير الْحسن: هَذَا فِي النَّفَقَة الْوَاجِبَة؛ كَانُوا يتصدقون بأردأ دراهمهم، وأردأ طعامهم؛ فنهاهم اللَّه عَنْ ذَلِك؛ فَقَالَ: ﴿وَلا تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيثَ﴾ وَهُوَ الردىء ﴿مِنْهُ تنفقون﴾ قَالَ مُحَمَّد: ﴿لَا تيمموا﴾ يَعْنِي: لَا تقصدوا ﴿وَلَسْتُمْ بِآخِذِيهِ إِلَّا أَن تغمضوا فِيهِ﴾ تَفْسِير الْكَلْبِيّ: يَقُولُ: لَو كَانَ لبعضكم على بَعْض حق فَأعْطِي دون حَقه - لم يَأْخُذهُ مِنْهُ، إِلَّا أَن يرى أَنَّهُ قد تغامض لَهُ عَنْ بَعْض حَقه؛ وَكَذَلِكَ [قَول] اللَّه لَا تستكملوا الْأجر كُله، إِلَّا أَنَّ يتغمدكم مِنْهُ برحمة ﴿وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِي حميد﴾ غَنِي عَمَّا
