Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 1 · Page 414286

Translation · EN

"Allah does not charge a soul except within its capacity," meaning except for what it can bear; and this is concerning the whispers of the soul (hadith al-nafs). "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake." His saying: "if we have forgotten," refers to that for which the servant fears sin—that he might forget to act upon what he has been commanded to do.
