"[There] has already been for you a sign in the two factions that met," they are the two factions of Badr: the faction of the believers and the faction of the polytheists of the Arabs. "They saw them as twice their own number, with their [own] eyes." Al-Hasan said: He says: O polytheists, there has been for you a sign regarding your faction and the faction of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his companions, as you saw them twice your number with your own eyes, when Allah willed to cast terror into their hearts and to forsake them.
