[Verse 24 - 25]
"Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture?" The verse. Qatadah said: They are the Jews. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called them to submit to the judgment of the Book of Allah [and His rulings; that is], the Book of Allah which He revealed to him (folio 44), which agreed with the Book that had been revealed to them; yet they turned away from that and shunned it.
﴿أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا نَصِيبا من الْكتاب﴾ الْآيَة. \ قَالَ قَتَادَة: هُم الْيَهُود؛ دعاهم رَسُول اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى المحاكمة إِلَى كتاب اللَّه [وَأَحْكَامه؛ أَي] كتاب الله الَّذِي أنزلهُ عَلَيْهِ (ل ٤٤) فَوَافَقَ كِتَابهمْ الَّذِي أنزل عَلَيْهِم، فتولوا عَنْ ذَلِكَ، وأعرضوا عَنْهُ.
