[Mention] when the wife of Imran said: 'My Lord, indeed I have vowed to You what is in my womb, dedicated [to Your service].' Qatada's interpretation: He said: The wife of Imran had dedicated to Allah what was in her womb, and they used to dedicate the males. When the one dedicated was dedicated, he would be in the mosque, attending to it and sweeping it, never leaving it.
﴿إِذْ قَالَتِ امْرَأَةُ عِمْرَانَ رَبِّ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ لَكَ مَا فِي بَطْني محررا﴾ تَفْسِير قَتَادَة: قَالَ: كَانَت امْرَأَة عمرَان حررت لله مَا فِي بَطنهَا، وَكَانُوا يحررون الذُّكُور؛ فَكَانَ الْمُحَرر إِذا حرر يكون فِي الْمَسْجِد يقوم عَلَيْهِ ويكنسه لَا يبرح مِنْهُ،
