"Indeed, the first House established for mankind" (3:96). Al-Hasan said: It means, established as a Qibla (direction of prayer) for them. "is that at Bakkah, blessed" (3:96). The interpretation of Habib ibn Abi Thabit is that he said: The House and its surroundings are Bakkah, and that which is below it is Makkah. The place was only named Bakkah because the people crowd together (yatazahumun) in it. Muhammad said: The root of the word 'bakk' in the language is pushing, and the word 'mubadakan' (blessed) is in the accusative case (mansub) as a circumstantial qualifier (hal).
