Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 1 · Page 550118

Translation · EN

"O you who have believed, do not take as intimates those other than yourselves," meaning: from other than the Muslims, "they will not spare you any corruption," i.e., evil. "They wish you would have distress," i.e., what brings hardship upon you. "Hatred has already appeared from their mouths," i.e., it has become manifest, "and what their breasts conceal is greater" in terms of hatred and enmity, for they did not express the enmity but kept it secret among themselves, so Allah informed His Messenger of that regarding them. [Verses 119-120]
