Translation · EN

"O you who have believed, do not consume usury, [doubled and multiplied]" (Quran 3:130). In the Pre-Islamic era, if a debt owed by one person to another became due, the creditor would demand payment, and the debtor would say: "Delay [the payment for] me, and I will increase you [in the amount]." [Verses 130-136]

﴿يَا أَيهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَأْكُلُوا الرِّبَا أضعافا مضاعفة﴾ كَانُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّة إِذا حل دين أحدهم على صَاحبه؛ فتقاضاه، قَالَ: أخر عني وَأَزِيدك. [آيَة ١٣٣ - ١٣٦]
