Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 1 · Page 592153

Translation · EN

"[When you were climbing]" the mountain, "[and did not look back at anyone]"—meaning the Prophet.

(Page 54) "[While the Messenger was calling you from your rear]." He began saying, "Come to me, O servants of Allah," until he specifically addressed the Ansar, saying, "O Ansar of Allah, [come to me, for I am] the Messenger of Allah." Thus, the Ansar and the believers returned. "[So He repaid you with distress upon distress]."

Yahya said: They were told on that day that the Prophet of Allah had been struck down, and the other distress was the killing of their companions and the wounds they sustained. It was mentioned to us that seventy men were killed that day: sixty-six from the Ansar and four from the Muhajirun.
