And We said: "Go down, all of you, as enemies to one another." This includes Adam, and with him Eve, Iblis, and the snake into which Iblis entered. It (the snake) cannot gain power over a son of Adam in any place except that it bites him, and he cannot gain power over it in any place except that he crushes its head. "And for you on the earth is a place of settlement" from the day one is born until the day one dies, "and provision" meaning: their livelihoods which they enjoy, "for a time" meaning: until death. "Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance" and that of Eve.
Yahya: From Sharik, from Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Sulayman, from Ata, from Ibn Abbas, who said: It is their saying: "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us."
﴿وَقُلْنَا اهبطوا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ﴾ آدم وَمَعَهُ حَوَّاء وإبليس والحية الَّتي دخل إِبْلِيس فِيهَا لَا تقدر على ابْن آدم فِي مَوضِع إِلَّا لدغته، وَلا يقدر عَلَيْهَا فِي مَوضِع إِلَّا شدخها ﴿وَلكم فِي الأَرْض مُسْتَقر﴾ من يَوْم يُولد إِلَى يَوْم يَمُوت ﴿ومتاع﴾ يَعْنِي: مَعَايشهمْ الَّتي يستمتعون بِهَا ﴿إِلَى حِين﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمَوْت ﴿فَتَلَقَّى آدَمُ مِنْ ربه كَلِمَات فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ﴾ وعَلى حَوَّاء.
يَحْيَى: عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ (عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ) بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَان، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: هُوَ قَوْلُهُمَا: (رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وترحمنا
