Translation · EN

"You shall surely be tested" (latublawunna), meaning you shall surely be tried, "in your wealth and your selves," to the end of the verse. He tested them in their wealth [and their selves] by making it obligatory upon them to strive in His cause with their wealth and their selves, and to pay the Zakat. Then He informed them that they would be harmed for the sake of God, and He commanded them to have patience.
