, and by it you prevailed over the polytheists. "Whatever bad befalls you"—meaning a calamity that afflicted them on the day of Uhud—"is from yourself," meaning: because of their sins. It was a punishment from Allah for their disobedience to the Messenger of Allah, as they followed those who turned their backs. [Verses 80-82]
[فظهرت بهَا على الْمُشْركين] ﴿فَمِنَ اللَّهِ وَمَا أَصَابَكَ مِنْ سَيِّئَةٍ﴾ من نكبة نكبوا بهَا يَوْم أحد ﴿فَمن نَفسك﴾ أَي: بِذُنُوبِهِمْ، وَكَانَت عُقُوبَة من الله؛ بمعصيتهم رَسُول الله؛ حَيْثُ اتبعُوا المدبرين. [آيَة ٨٠ - ٨٢]
