"Whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah; and whoever turns away"—meaning, disbelieves—"We have not sent you as a guardian over them" to preserve their deeds for them, so that you may recompense them for them.
﴿مَنْ يُطِعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ الله وَمن تولى﴾ كفر ﴿فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا﴾ تحفظ عَلَيْهِم أَعْمَالهم؛ حَتَّى تجزيهم بهَا.
