His saying: "Then turn away from them"—do not kill them, and do not judge them according to the rulings of the polytheists; for as long as they met you, they gave you obedience and did not manifest polytheism. "And rely upon Allah," for He will suffice you against them. "And sufficient is Allah as a Disposer of affairs" for whoever relies upon Him.
قَوْله: ﴿فَأَعْرض عَنْهُم﴾ لَا تقتلهم، وَلَا تحكم عَلَيْهِم أَحْكَام الْمُشْركين؛ مَا كَانُوا إِذا لقوك أعطوك الطَّاعَة، وَلم يظهروا الشّرك. ﴿وتوكل على الله﴾ فَإِنَّهُ سيكفيكهم ﴿وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلا﴾ لمن توكل عَلَيْهِ.
