"And when We parted the sea for you and saved you, and drowned the people of Pharaoh"—they died, and Pharaoh was among them—"while you were looking on," meaning: watching them.
Muhammad said regarding His saying: "And when We parted the sea for you," it is like His saying: "Then it parted, and each portion was like a great mountain." [Verse 63-64]
﴿وَإِذْ فَرَقْنَا بِكُمُ الْبَحْرَ فَأَنْجَيْنَاكُمْ وأغرقنا آل فِرْعَوْن﴾ [مَاتُوا] وَفرْعَوْن فيهم ﴿وَأَنْتُم تنْظرُون﴾ يَعْنِي: أوليهم.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد فِي قَوْله: ﴿وَإِذ فرقنا بكم الْبَحْر﴾ هُوَ كَقَوْلِه: ﴿فَانْفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فرق كالطود الْعَظِيم﴾. [آيَة ٥١ - ٥٢]
