"And when We gave Moses the Scripture and the Criterion"—The Scripture: the Torah; and the Criterion: its lawful and unlawful [provisions]. "That perhaps you might be guided"—in order that you might be guided.
﴿وَإِذْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَالْفُرْقَانَ﴾ الْكتاب: التَّوْرَاة، وَالْفرْقَان: حلالها وحرامها ﴿لَعَلَّكُمْ تهتدون﴾ لكَي تهتدوا.
