“And when you said, ‘O Moses, we will not believe you until we see Allah outright,’ so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on. Then We revived you after your death, so that you might be grateful. And We shaded you with clouds and sent down upon you manna and quails, [saying], ‘Eat from the good things with which We have provided you.’ And they did not wrong Us, but they were [only] wronging themselves.”

Muhammad said: “outright” means visibly and clearly. “The thunderbolt” means a destructive sound or fire from the sky. “We revived you” means We brought you back to life. “The clouds” means the white clouds. “Manna” is the honey-like sap that descends upon trees, and “quails” are a type of bird.
