"And We shaded you with clouds," Qatadah said: They asked Moses for shelter while they were wandering in the wilderness, so Allah shaded them with clouds. Mujahid said: The 'Ghamam' (clouds) is different from the 'Sahab' (ordinary clouds).
Muhammad said: The singular of 'Ghamam' is 'Ghamamah,' and according to linguists, it refers to the white part of the clouds. "And We sent down to you Manna and Salwa," Qatadah said: The Manna used to descend upon them from the rising of the dawn until the rising of the sun. It was whiter than snow and sweeter than honey. Each one of them would take what sufficed him for his day; if he took more than that, it would spoil and not remain with him.
