"And when We said, 'Enter this village,'" up to His saying: "and We will increase those who do good." Al-Kalbi said: When the Children of Israel separated from the Tih (the wilderness), and entered the inhabited lands, they were at the mountains of Jericho in the Jordan, it was said to them: "Enter this village and eat from it wherever you wish in abundance." The Children of Israel had committed a sin, and Allah wished to save them from it if they repented. He said to them: "When you reach the gate of the village, prostrate, and say: 'Hittah' (forgiveness/relieve us of our burden)," so that We may remove your sins from you. "And We will increase those who do good"—those who were not among the people of that sin—with goodness upon their goodness.
