"Then you turned away after that; and had it not been for the bounty of Allah upon you and His mercy," (folio 11) in that He did not hasten the punishment for you, "you would have been among the losers," meaning: the punished.
﴿ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ فَلَوْلا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ﴾ (ل ١١) حِين لم يعجل لكم الْعَذَاب ﴿لكنتم من الخاسرين﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمُعَذَّبين.
