"Wa qala alladhi naja minhuma" (And the one of the two who was saved said), meaning: from the prison. "Wa iddakkara ba'da ummah" (And remembered after a time), meaning: he remembered Yusuf after a while. Ibn Abbas used to recite it as: "Wa iddakkara ba'da amah" (And remembered after a forgetfulness). Qatada said: meaning, after forgetting. "Ana unabbi'ukum bi-ta'wilihi fa-arsilun" (I will inform you of its interpretation, so send me). There is an ellipsis here, as the king then sent him.
