"He said: You shall sow for seven years consecutively, then what you reap, leave it in its ear." He meant that if it remains in the ear, it is more durable for it.
Muhammad said: Da'b means persistence in something and habit. It is said regarding this: Da'abtu ad'abu da'aban (I persisted, I persist, a persistence).
﴿قَالَ تَزْرَعُونَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ دَأَبًا فَمَا حَصَدْتُمْ فَذَرُوهُ فِي سُنْبُلِهِ﴾ أَرَادَ: أَنَّهُ إِذَا كَانَ فِي السُّنْبُلِ كَانَ أَبْقَى لَهُ.
قَالَ محمدٌ: الدَّأَبُ: الْمُلازَمَةُ لِلشَّيْءِ وَالْعَادَةُ؛ يُقَالُ مِنْهُ: دَأَبْتُ أَدْأَبُ دَأَبًا.
