"They said, 'O Aziz,'" Al-Kalbi said: Joseph was the Aziz after the Aziz who was his master and who had possessed him.
"'Take one of us in his place,'" Al-Suddi said: He means, 'Detain one of us in his place.'
﴿قَالُوا يَا أَيهَا الْعَزِيز﴾ قَالَ الْكَلْبِيُّ: إِنَّ يُوسُفَ كَانَ الْعَزِيزَ بَعْدَ الْعَزِيزِ سَيِّدِهِ الَّذِي ملكه.
﴿فَخذ أَحَدنَا مَكَانَهُ﴾ قَالَ السُّدِّيُّ: يَعْنِي احْبِسْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُ.
