[It is] "Allah who raised the heavens without pillars that you see." Al-Hasan's interpretation: There is a transposition [in the verse], [meaning]: He raised the heavens, which you see, without pillars. And Ibn Abbas's interpretation: They have pillars, but you do not see them. "And He subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term," meaning: the Day of Resurrection.
And some of them said: It runs in a course it does not exceed.
And Muhammad said: The meaning of "He subjected the sun and the moon" is: He made them subservient and restricted them to what He willed.
"He arranges [each] matter," He decrees the judgment regarding His creation. "He details the signs," He clarifies them, "that you may..."
