Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 2 · Page 10823

Translation · EN

"And it is He who spread the earth," meaning: He expanded it. "And placed therein firm mountains," meaning: the mountains. "And rivers, and of all the fruits He made therein," meaning: He created therein, "two pairs," meaning: two kinds.

Muhammad said: It is said that this means: two types, sweet and sour. The term "pair" (zawj) according to the linguists refers to: a single thing that has a counterpart.

"He causes the night to cover the day," meaning: He causes the night to cloak the day, thereby making it disappear. "Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought," and they are the believers.

Surah Ar-Ra'd from verse (4) to verse (5).
