and its affliction, and aspiration for the resident who hopes for its blessing and aspires to the provision of Allah within it. The lightning is a light which Allah created as a sign for rain. Regarding the exegesis of the verse: "And He produces the heavy clouds," Mujahid said: They are those that contain water.
وَمَعَرَّتَهُ، وَطَمَعًا لِلْمُقِيمِ يَرْجُو بَرَكَتَهُ ويطمع فِيهِ رِزْقِ اللَّهِ. وَالْبَرْقُ ضوءٌ خَلَقَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَمًا لِلْمَطَرِ؛ فِي تَفْسِيرِ الْحسن ﴿وينشئ السَّحَاب الثقال﴾ قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: هِيَ الَّتِي فِيهَا المَاء
