His saying: 'Alif. Lam. Ra. A Book which We have revealed to you,' meaning: This is a Book We have revealed to you; that is: the Quran. 'That you may bring mankind out'—those whom Allah willed to guide—'from darknesses into the light,' meaning: from misguidance to guidance, 'by the permission of their Lord,' by the command of their Lord, 'unto the path,' unto the way, 'of the Exalted in Might,' in His dominion and His retribution, 'the Praiseworthy,' He who has caused His creation to praise Him, and is deserving of their praise.
قَوْلُهُ: ﴿الر كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ﴾ أَيْ: هَذَا كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ؛ يَعْنِي: الْقُرْآن ﴿لتخرج النَّاس﴾ من أَرَادَ الله أَن يهديه ﴿من الظُّلُمَات إِلَى النُّور﴾ يَعْنِي: من الضَّلَالَة إِلَى الْهدى ﴿بِإِذن رَبهم﴾ ٦ بِأَمْر رَبهم ﴿إِلَى صِرَاط﴾ ﴿إِلَى طَرِيق﴾ (الْعَزِيز﴾ فِي ملكه ونقمته ﴿الحميد﴾ اسْتَحْمَدَ إِلَى خَلْقِهِ، وَاسْتَوْجَبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَن يحمدوه.
