“Beyond him is Hell,” meaning: after this punishment that occurred in the worldly life, there is “Hell,” meaning: the punishment of Hell. It has also been said regarding “beyond him (min wara’ihi)” that it means: in front of him.
“And he will be given to drink of purulent water (sadid).” The sadid is what flows from the skins of the people of Hell, consisting of pus and blood.
﴿من وَرَائه جَهَنَّم﴾ أَي: من بعد هَذَا الْعَذَابِ الَّذِي كَانَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ﴿جَهَنَّم﴾ أَيْ: عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ. وَقَدْ قِيلَ: ﴿مِنْ وَرَائِهِ﴾ أَيْ: مِنْ أَمَامِهِ.
﴿ويسقى من مَاء صديد﴾ الصَّدِيدُ: مَا يَسِيلُ مِنْ جُلُودِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ مِنَ الْقَيْحِ وَالدَّمِ
